Maranatha

Maranatha (Come Lord Jesus) Prayer Group is a charismatic prayer group that meets once a week year round to praise God in prayer and song, to listen to the word of God, to share our journeys and pray for each other and the needs of our parish and the world.  We are active in our parish and over the years have put on yearly Life in the Spirit Seminars, led many programs open to the whole parish, brought in outstanding speakers, provided coffee and muffins once a month after the morning mass, plus helped out at many parish functions. When Archbishop Adam Exner became bishop of Vancouver he allowed the first Charismatic Conference in Vancouver in 1992.  A large group of our parishioners attended the Conference in 1997 and were inspired to form our own prayer group.  Theresa and Ray Pinel approached Father Hamilton in November for permission to run a “Life in the Spirit Seminar” in January 1998.  He gave his blessing and after the Seminars in March 1998 the Maranatha Prayer was formed. It has run continuously since then. An interesting note, 1998 was the year of the Holy Spirit.
